Serious crash closes Cromwell Gorge

The Cromwell Gorge between Cromwell and Clyde is closed due to a serious accident.

The accident on State Highway 8 is approximately five kilometres east of Cromwell, near the Cromwell Gorge Picnic Area.

Police say that that are dealing with a three vehicle crash involving two trucks on on the state highway, which runs between Cromwell and Alexandra.

Police responded around 6.35am.

The Serious Crash Unit, and the Commercial Vehicle Safety Team have been advised.

The road is blocked and motorists are advised to expect delays.

"More information will be released when we are in a position to do so," police say.
