Free workshops aim to help people run greener events

Feb 29, 2024

A pair of free workshops will seek to provide event organisers with tips and tricks for running events that go easy on the planet.

The half-day sessions are aimed at local individuals and organisations planning events both big and small who are keen to make them as sustainable as possible.

Supported by Environmental Accounting Services, Wao, Wastebusters and the Queenstown Lakes District Council, the workshops will be held in Queenstown and Wānaka on March 13 and 14.

Their primary goal is to address the challenges of waste and emissions, and participants will have the opportunity to learn from experts in the field and engage in collaborative brainstorming sessions to devise innovative solutions.

The workshops will also provide practical steps that event organisers can take to reduce the environmental impact of their events.

Workshop organisers are encouraging attendees to bring their teams, ideas, questions, and challenges to the workshops, where morning tea will be provided.

"Overall, these workshops offer a unique opportunity for event organisers to gain valuable knowledge, share experiences, and work towards creating more sustainable events.

"The workshops are a step in the right direction towards building a more sustainable future for event planning."
