New website 'go-to' for all things creative

Aug 08, 2023

The Three Lakes Cultural Trust has launched a new 'What’s On' guide for all things arts, culture and creativity in the Queenstown Lakes District.

The Te Wāhi Toi (The Arts Place) website is now live, providing a much-needed digital platform, hosting information on arts and culture for visitors, creatives and the community.

Powered by the cultural trust, Te Wāhi Toi is a free tool where local artists, performers, venues, festivals and community groups can add listings.

There is information on events, a creative directory listing classes, clubs and studios, and a 'find a space' section to connect creatives to rehearsal, meeting, performing, working and exhibiting spaces.

Both visitors and the community can sign up to receive personalised ‘What’s On’ newsletters that are generated to align with personal interests and will share new events that are posted.

The trust's chief operating officer Samantha Kirk says there is plenty of talent in the district, and so much going on under the radar.

“With Te Wāhi Toi we now have one central go-to place to discover just how much is on offer.”

Trust board chair Gizelle Regan says the new resource will help bring arts, culture and creativity to the forefront in the district.

“Te Wāhi Toi was built as a direct response to the TLCT 2020 Masterplan, where community feedback expressed a need for ‘a coordinated marketing tool’, a virtual hub for the district's artistic community to network and collaborate.

This has been a substantial piece of work and couldn’t have happened without the wonderful and generous support of our partners, funding bodies and some key individuals who have helped bring this to life.”
